7 Running Horses Vastu Wall Art: Direction Rules, Proportions, and Living Room Styling

South wall

The South is associated with Mars, fire, and recognition. In practice, a painting on the South wall creates a visual focal point that draws the eye away from the entrance and anchors the room.

One constraint: if your South wall has a large window or is partially occupied by a TV unit, the framing gets complicated. A canvas fighting with a television screen or bleaching in direct sunlight will look wrong within a year regardless of direction.

North wall

The North wall connects to Kubera and financial flow. If the South wall is taken up by a television unit or balcony door, North is usually the cleaner option.

For a business owner who works from home, or anyone focused on financial clarity and liquidity, North is just as valid as South. Check that the horses on your specific piece still face inward from this angle before deciding.

East wall

Hanging height: mount the center of the frame at 57 to 60 inches from the finished floor. This places the visual center at seated eye level on the sofa and at standing eye level when walking past. Most people hang art too high.

Gap from furniture: leave 6 to 8 inches of clear wall between the top of the sofa back and the bottom edge of the frame.

Lighting: avoid cool white LEDs at 5000K and above. They wash out the warm earth tones that most horses paintings carry. Use 2700K to 3000K warm white. An executive console table below the frame anchors the piece without requiring a sofa arrangement. Keep the console surface minimal: three objects maximum. A small plant, one or two books, a single decorative piece. The frame should hold the visual weight alone.

For a home office, the South wall works well when the desk faces North or East, meaning the horses run toward you as you work rather than disappearing behind your sightline.
